Platform 2c Production Team
Platform 2c started off with a team of just two Richard and Alyson and is steadily growing as we find new team members. Most of the early episodes have been done by in effect one man and a camera with just camera sound. From series 1 episode 6 onwards we acquired separate sound assistance with Jon joining the team and from series 1 episode 5 ish we acquired a storyline adviser with Kat later taken over by Steve. We are always looking for additional production/crew members. Think you can bring something we don’t have? Please get in touch.
Richard Connew
NFD Technical Director – MCSE, PSS, PSE,
Roles in “Platform 2c” – Director – Producer – Story line – Cameraman – 3D – Sound
After a 13 year career in the British Army specialising in communications, IT and GPS systems, Richard joined RR Donnelly & Sons in 1990 where he was involved in business development work with companies such as MOTOROLA, Sun, Avery and IBM.
2000, he moved to Energis Squared, the technology innovation centre for the Energis Group to head up their application software provision programme. He was responsible for refocusing the emphasis of a 7 million pound project to the development of mobile phone applications and streaming video content on demand. His strong interest and belief in a strong future for video content across the internet eventually led him to leave IT in 2004 and setup NFD Productions.
Richard’s business development, marketing, technical, and project management skills from managing multi million pounds IT projects made him the ideal choice to fulfil producer and director roles in the various films NFD Productions have created so far and will do in the future. Richard always believes in being hands on and as such has worked long and hard over the years to further develop his skills to become a very competent cameraman, soundman, and Stereographer to further compliment his excellent directing and producing skills. Richard specialises in 3D and is a great believer in being a “3D Director” first and foremost. He also writes many of the scripts NFD use for their own films and customers with one film “Lots of Love Harry” he wrote the script for, filmed and produced being a Babelgum International film festival top 3 finalist in 2008.
In 2010 Richard created “Platform 2c” an online 3D soap TV mini series for the web, on demand and cable channels initially to help promote both NFD and the aspiring actors NFD train. After producing 5 Platform 2c mini TV series from 2010 to 2012 he switched the drive to producing full 3D feature films. The first of which was “Hollows Wood” 3D completed in 2013 and more recently “Jailhouse Dog” 3D completed on May 1st 2014 which had over 28k hits for the 2D version in its first month. Currently he is exploring positive opportunities for the 3D versions of both films in China and Asia. He has just finished working on our own comedy “Sisterhood of the Red Garter” 3D feature film and is now starting work on “Crooked Billet” as well as a number of other big budget 3D cinema film projects he is looking at directing for in 2016/7. One of which “tears of glass” he created the original idea for.
Alyson Connew
NFD Creative Director – LAMG, LGR, SRN,
Roles in “Platform 2c” – Director – Producer – Story line
Originally trained as a nurse, Alyson Connew was lured into the exciting world of performing arts in 1984. After many years experience of having worked as the Head of Drama at a school of performing arts she started her own school (NFD). She initially starting directing young people in stage productions as early as 1984 and has gone on to direct various stage productions from the Edinburgh Fringe to a sell out production of Annie at the carriage works in Leeds October 2007. She directed her first film “Victim” in 1995. Alyson has trained young students up to an extremely high level getting them parts on such well-known television programmes as Heartbeat, Emmerdale, Darling Buds of May, A Touch of Frost, Fat Friends and Coronation Street. Alyson has also had a number adult students appearing in television programmes such as Emmerdale, Faking it, Pop Stars the Rivals, King Girl, Heart Beat, Touch of Frost, Coronation Street, The Royal, At Home with the Braithwaite’s. Films include The Darkest Light, Charlie Chaplin, Victim, Past Memoirs, Tempted to be Accepted and Mrs Radcliffe’s Revolution. Unlike many others Alyson specialises in training people for Film and TV. Often Alyson would go on set with young students and thus learned a great deal about how film sets work along the way. On many occasions Alyson helped out by performing various on set jobs, unit manager, assistant director, assisting various directors on a number of sets with child direction. Alyson due to her extensive experience of working with children and young actors is always able to get that really special performance of a life time that so many other directors fail to when working with young people. Even adult actors really excel. Alyson’s early film making expanded over the years to the point that a number of her short films have been bought and broadcast by ITV, Meridian and Channel 4 amongst others. Alyson is currently directing our new Platform 2c spin off for the teenage students “Waverly High 3D”.
